Amazing Yellowstone and the Grand Teton Parks

Back in 1988, my husband and I took a wonderful trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.
We had unbelievable experiences with wildlife.
We watched bald eagles fishing in a river.
At the top of the hill opposite spectacular Grand Prismatic Spring, a great gray owl flew into a tree very close to where we were standing. We looked at the owl, he sized us up and then he took off.
While on a walk around Two Oceans Lake in the Grand Teton park, we came to a small ravine where we were about to cross a foot bridge. Just as we neared the bridge, a moose and her baby sprang up out of the ravine up onto the opposite side of the bridge from us. She planted all 4's and was ready to protect her baby. We slowly backed up and she wandered off into the woods with her youngster. She watched us from the woods for quite awhile while we decided whether to continue with our walk, which meant we might have to face her again...so we went back and walked awhile in the other direction. This is when 3 sandhill cranes flew in and landed by the lake right in front of us.
On the drive from Two Oceans Lake back to the main road, we spotted 2 buffalo crossing a river. The water was so swift that the buffalo had a terrible time trying to cross. One of them was nearly swept away by the current, but managed to catch a tree snag with his front hooves and climbed over that tree onto the bank. It was quite dramatic.
That evening, we went to the top of Signal Mountain for the sunset. When I was standing there watching the sun go down, a grouse began dancing and displaying right at my feet. It was getting dark so I don't think he realized I was there. The female was in a nearby tree and I assumed he was trying to impress her. He was drumming and flapping his wings. We watched until he finished.
While on a walk around Yellowstone Lake, we came across some very fresh and very large claw prints in the mud. We believed these belonged to a grizzly bear. We made a quick beeline back to our car.
The scenery was spectacular. The geysers were fascinating.
We hope to go back there someday and we hope for more amazing encounters with wildlife.
